My Spiced Apple Butter starts with ripe apples picked from the tree in my backyard in Altadena, California (supplemented with ripe fruit I gathered in the Altadena, CA area). I then add brown sugar, white sugar, and a special spice blend. I slow cook the ingredients until they turn into smooth brown wonderfulness.
Then use the water bath canning method to preserve the apple butter. This method preserves the apple butter for 18 months or more without the addition of any chemicals or preservatives.
