Legis Vineyards & Winery
Legis Vineyards is located in Green Valley Solano County. Green Valley is in the designated Solano Green Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) district. The valley’s temperate maritime climate is well suited for the production of high-quality wine grapes. Warmth during the day is replaced by cold fog, allowing the grapes to cool overnight. This extends the ripening period, leading to a good balance of ripeness and acidity in the berries. Legis Vineyards are hand harvested and organically grown. The owner and winemaker for Legis is a retired Chief of Police. He started the vineyard to honor law enforcement profession as well as the military. Legis Vineyards got its name by translating law enforcement from English to Latin which is Legis. St. Michael the Patron Saint of Law Enforcement and the Military is featured on the label. A portion of the sales will go to organizations such as the Peace Officer’s Memorial fund which the newly formed Legis Vineyards committee will control.
